In the meeting of the high level committee chaired by Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, it was decided to give the status of Thana to Hazaribagh's Padma OP. In another decision, it was approved to open a new police outpost near Deoghar Airport.
It is worth noting that the police outpost in Padma has been working for a long time. It was told in the meeting that the working area of Padma OP is very large. It was created for smooth functioning of law and order in the area of NH 30 located far from Barhi police station. But, now this area has turned into a populated area. Criminal activities have also increased in the same proportion in this area. Also, in view of the increase in road accidents, growing industries and activities of extremists and attempts to spoil communal harmony, it was decided to upgrade Padma OP to a full police station. An estimated Rs 2.7 crore will be spent in upgrading Padma OP to a police station.
On the other hand, it was decided to create Airport OP due to Deoghar Airport under Kunda police station of Deoghar district. In its proposal, the Home Department said that the distance of Deoghar Airport from Kunda police station is seven km and from the headquarters is 12 km. Due to which the working area of the police station becomes quite large. Due to the airport area being inaccessible, there is difficulty in maintaining law and order from Kunda police station. At the same time, criminal incidents have also increased in the last few days. In view of this, the opening of a police outpost was approved in the meeting of the high-level committee for the safety of the common people. An expenditure of about four crore rupees is estimated in the creation of this OP.
In the meeting of the high-level committee held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary of Home Department Vandana Dadel, Personnel Secretary Praveen Toppo, Rural Development Secretary K. Srinivasan, Revenue Secretary Chandrashekhar and IG Headquarters Manoj Kaushik were present.
