The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) has written to the Vice-Chancellor of Barkatullah University, offering financial assistance for the repair of the damaged gate of the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, NSUI State Vice President Ravi Parmar stated that the gate was damaged during a protest by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists on April 2, 2025. However, despite the incident, the university administration has not yet taken any action against the culprits, nor has it initiated repairs for the damaged gate.
Parmar emphasized that the repair costs should not be borne using students' fees. "We believe that the loss to university property should not be compensated using funds collected from students. That is why our organization is willing to provide financial assistance for the gate’s repair," he stated.
He urged the Vice-Chancellor to inform them about the estimated cost of the repairs so that the necessary assistance process can begin.
Parmar further asserted that the university administration should not succumb to any external pressure or intimidation from disruptive elements. He reiterated that NSUI remains committed to ensuring the safety of students and faculty and will always stand in defense of democratic values.
