Bhopal witnessed a dramatic turn of events on Wednesday evening when a newlywed bride fled just before her wedding reception, allegedly with her lover. The incident took place in the TT Nagar area, where the bride was reportedly whisked away by three youths in a car, leaving the groom and his family in shock.
According to police reports, the wedding took place in Ganjbasoda on February 18. Following the ceremonies, the bride was brought to Bhopal for the reception scheduled on February 19.
Before the event, she had visited a beauty parlor to get ready. As soon as she stepped out of the groom’s car near the marriage hall, an unidentified vehicle arrived at high speed. Three youths got out, pushed the groom’s sister aside, forcibly took the bride, and sped away.
A distraught groom, 32-year-old Ashish Rajak, approached the TT Nagar police station to lodge a complaint. Based on his statement, the police initially registered a missing person’s report. TT Nagar Police Station in-charge Sudhir Arajaria stated that multiple raids have been conducted to locate the bride, with search teams dispatched to Ganjbasoda and Sagar.
During the preliminary investigation, police found call records suggesting that the bride had been in constant contact with a man named Aniket Malviya, a DJ from Ganjbasoda. Aniket, who lives in the bride’s neighborhood, is suspected of orchestrating her escape with the help of his friends, Rahul and Ashfaq.
Further inquiries revealed that the bride voluntarily left the groom’s car and immediately boarded another vehicle parked nearby.
Evidence suggests that she had been in a relationship with Aniket for the past three to four years and had planned the escape well in advance. Phone records indicate multiple conversations between the two before the wedding.
Authorities have intensified the search for Aniket, Rahul, and Ashfaq, conducting raids at various locations. The car used in the escape was reportedly driven by Ashfaq, while Aniket and Rahul were inside. Police have set up checkpoints along routes from Bhopal to Ganjbasoda in an effort to trace the suspects.
Meanwhile, the bride’s mobile phone, along with her father’s, remains switched off, and no member of her family attended the reception.
Police are continuing their investigation, confident that the accused will be apprehended soon.
