Neeru Shanti Bhagat quits AJSU party

Wednesday, 15 January 2025 | PNS | Ranchi

AJSU leader and AJSU party's Lohardaga assembly in-charge Neeru Shanti Bhagat, who contested elections from Lohardaga assembly seat thrice on behalf of AJSU party, has resigned from the party. In this regard, the AJSU leader has sent her resignation to party supremo AJSU's central president Sudesh Mahato. The things said by the AJSU leader in the resignation letter have sparked a discussion in the party.

Neeru Shanti Bhagat is the wife of Jharkhand agitator and former Lohardaga MLA Kamal Kishore Bhagat. After Kamal Kishore Bhagat was convicted in a case, the party fielded Neeru Shanti Bhagat from Lohardaga assembly seat in the assembly elections of 2015, 2019 and 2024. Neeru Shanti Bhagat had to face defeat in the elections all three times.

After the defeat in the 2024 assembly elections, there was a stir within the party. Neeru Shanti Bhagat had accused some leaders and workers of betraying the party and making her lose the elections. Recently, after Neeru Shanti Bhagat's meeting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the discussion of joining JMM had also intensified.

On the other hand, in the election review meeting of AJSU party last day, Neeru Shanti Bhagat was accused of taking the initiative to join JMM and break AJSU and a proposal was sent to the central leadership for action against her for doing anti-party work. Party's central spokesperson Devsharan Bhagat was also present in this meeting. In the matter, Neeru Shanti Bhagat said that some people are accusing her to hide their mistake. Those people are trying to give mental stress. If she had gone to any party, everyone would have come to know.

In a letter sent to Central President Sudesh Mahato, Neeru Shanti Bhagat has said that she is resigning from all the posts and primary membership of the party without any anger, malice, discrimination. She thanks the party wholeheartedly for the respect and love given to her as the wife of a Jharkhand agitator.

She wrote in the letter that I would like to give a small advice that the party officials and workers should be given training to bring decency and politeness in their speech, behavior and writing. This will be beneficial for the party. Also, please provide training on the history of Jharkhand movement to the party officials and workers.
