Multiple security equipment arrive at Ambala Cantt for new domestic Airport

Monday, 07 April 2025 | PNS | Chandigarh

Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said that multiple security equipment have arrived from Kolkata for the newly-constructed domestic airport in Ambala Cantonment, including under-vehicle search mirrors, explosive detectors, drug detection systems and other modern security equipment. Flights from Ambala Cantonment Domestic Airport are set to begin soon to Jammu, Ayodhya, Srinagar and Lucknow, offering air connectivity to a broad region and benefiting people not just in Ambala but also in neighboring states, he added.

After inspecting the Domestic Airport at Ambala Cantonment, Vij said that two X-ray machines have been installed for screening passenger luggage. One machine will be used for hand baggage, while the other will screen checked-in luggage. He also personally inspected the functioning of these machines.

While on-site, Vij discussed the early deployment of staff at the airport with Deputy Commissioner Ajay Tomar. He instructed Tomar to coordinate with Central and State Aviation Ministries to expedite the staffing process.

Vij also directed that cleanliness be maintained across the airport premises, including toilets, waiting rooms, halls, parking and the outer areas. He issued further instructions to the Public Health Department’s Executive Engineer to ensure uninterrupted water supply at the airport and to resolve any issues promptly. Additionally, he tasked the PWD horticulture department with beautifying the open spaces around the airport by planting trees and maintaining greenery to make the area aesthetically appealing.

Providing basic amenities to people is Govt’s top priority: Vij

Chandigarh: Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Anil Vij on Sunday said that providing basic amenities to the people remains a top priority for him and the government. As part of this effort, city bus services have already been introduced in Chandpuri, Boh and Babyal, and soon bus queue shelters will also be set up in Chandpuri and other locations. These shelters will also be equipped with fans, so people won’t have to wait in the heat for buses.

He inaugurated a newly-constructed dharamshala in Chandpuri, built at a cost of Rs 25 lakhs. In addition to Chandpuri, dharamshalas have also been built in Shahpur, Machhonda and Shivalaya, ensuring that citizens can comfortably host both family and social events. All these dharamshalas are fully equipped with modern facilities, he said.

Issuing a stern warning, he added, “Property dealers here have sold homes to people but failed to provide proper facilities. I’ll hold them accountable whenever the time comes.”
