The Central government is going to give houses to more than 4 lakh homeless families of Jharkhand. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) of the Central Government, each beneficiary will get assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh. With this, they will be able to build their own permanent house.
Earlier, the Central Government had approved housing for 1.13 lakh homeless people, but now this number has been increased to 4,19,947. This is a relief news for those people who neither got the benefit of PMAY nor got a house under the Abua Housing Scheme of the Jharkhand Government.
The Jharkhand Government had to work hard to get this scheme approved. Earlier, due to many pending houses in the state and errors in the list, the Central Government had refused to give new approval. In view of this situation, the Jharkhand Government started the Abua Housing Scheme, under which assistance of Rs 2 lakh is being given to each beneficiary. A 3 room house is being built with this.
Under PMAY, each beneficiary will be given Rs 1.20 lakh. The house will be built in 269 square feet, which will have 2 rooms, a kitchen and a veranda. The labour work will be done under MGNREGA. Toilet construction will also be done through convergence of MGNREGA.
