On the occasion of International Women’s Day, a grand felicitation ceremony was organized by Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) at the Godda Nagar Bhavan. The event was graced by Minister for Industries, Labour & Training, Sanjay Prasad Yadav as the chief guest. Also present were former Chairperson of Godda Municipal Council, Kalpana Devi, Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC), Smita Toppo, and Adani Foundation’s Regional Head, Jayant Mohanty.
The program commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a welcome address by Jayant Mohanty, where he highlighted the renovation work undertaken by the Adani Foundation in KGBVs and the subsequent improvements in the quality of education. He emphasized how the foundation is committed to strengthening school infrastructure while ensuring quality education and holistic development for students.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC Smita Toppo remarked, "For women, every day is a struggle. Education is the only weapon through which they can conquer all challenges in life." Kalpana Devi also stressed the importance of girls’ education, calling it the most crucial task for society.
Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav, in his address, praised Adani Foundation’s CSR initiatives and assured all possible support for the students of KGBVs. He emphasized the collective responsibility of society and the government in promoting girls’ education. As part of the program, top-performing students from all nine KGBVs in Godda were felicitated with a cheque of ₹10,000 each.
The event was attended by District Council Member Raghvendra Singh, social workers Tilak Jha and Kaushal Yadav, Adani Power officials Subrata Debnath and Abhimanyu Anand, along with Adani Foundation representatives Santosh Kumar Singh, Archana Sinha, Sumit Sagar, Abhay Verma, and associates Preeti Yadav, Sanju Mishra, and Pankaj Ram.
The Adani Foundation has successfully carried out renovation and upgradation work across nine KGBVs in Godda, namely Godda, Sundarpahari, Pathargama, Mahagama, Thakurgangti, Basantrai, Podayahat, Boarijor, and Mehrama. Key initiatives include: School infrastructure renovation and beautification, Establishment of smart classrooms and modern teaching facilities, Installation of RO water coolers for safe drinking water, Upgradation of kitchens and improved meal facilities, Provision of sports kits and uniforms to promote extracurricular activities and Construction of pathways, gates, stages, and BALA paintings to enhance the school environment.
These efforts have significantly impacted students' educational outcomes. The pass percentage for Class 10 students in KGBVs improved from 46.65% in 2018 to an impressive 99.14% in 2023.
