In the series of health camps being organised by Women Doctors Wing IMA Jharkhand, National Health Mission Jharkhand, State Health Department, District Administrations and Forest Department of the State startling revelations have been witnessed. In the recently held Health Hul Mela in Pakur district maximum number of women with cervical cancer has been found, while in a similar Mela at Sahebganj 30 women with uterine prolapse were detected by medics.
A mega women health camp and vision protection campaign was organized on Tuesday at the new Sadar Hospital premises, Sahibganj under the joint aegis of Women Doctors Wing IMA Jharkhand, National Health Mission Jharkhand, Sahibganj District Administration and Sahibganj Forest Department. The chief guest of the health camp and vision protection campaign was Hemant Sati, Deputy Commissioner, Sahibganj.
The camp was inaugurated by lighting the lamp jointly by DC Hemant Sati, DFO Prabal Garg, former National Co-President, Women Doctors Wing, IMA, State President, Women Doctors Wing, IMA Jharkhand Dr. Bharti Kashyap, DDC Satish Chandra, IMA President, Sahibganj, Dr. Vijay Kumar and Civil Surgeon Dr. Praveen Kumar Santhalia.
It is to be noted that in 2024, eye camps and mega health mega women health campaign camps focused on PVTG (Particular Vulnerable Tribal Group) are being organized in the remote Naxal-affected areas of Santhal Pargana and Kolhan. It was organized in Gua on July 1, Goilkera on July 15, Tonto on December 21, Pakur on January 4 and now it has been organized in Sahibganj on January 5.
In the health camp, cervical cancer screening, eye screening, malaria and filariasis screening, HIV and syphilis screening, kala-azar screening, high blood pressure screening, TV screening, sickle cell screening, diabetes screening, prenatal screening, senior citizen screening, hemoglobin screening, vaccination, family planning related advice were given. Along with this, free medicines were also distributed.
Sati said in his address that all the people of the district must take advantage of this program. Visit the various types of medical stalls set up here and inform the doctors present there about your problem so that your problem can be diagnosed as soon as possible.
He said that at present cervical cancer is a big threat to the common people, it is very important to treat it on time. Through this program, treatment is possible by taking advice from the doctor present here. In this program, Ayushman cards will be made on the 16th and 20th so that 100 percent people can get the benefit of health facilities.
Dr. Bharti Kashyap, who was honoured with Nari Shakti Samman by the President, said that local people deprived of health facilities, PVTG families settled here, small children losing their eyesight, such people are our priority because they cannot reach us, we have to reach them and this is the purpose of such camps.
She said that we have already organised such health campaigns in Deoghar, Jamtara, Dumka, Barhet, Rajmahal, Sahibganj of the Sansthan Pargana. By creating the Jharkhand model, we have screened and treated about 460000 women of reproductive capacity so far who had symptoms of genital swelling or who were in the high risk category.
Under the Vision for Jharkhand campaign, over 20 lakh children of government schools have been screened, thousands of children have been given free spectacles and hundreds of children have been sent back to school after undergoing free cataract surgery.
She said that in all these recent camps at multiple places we found large no of reproductive age group women suffering from leucorrhea which is foul smelling vaginal discharge. These women apply local herbs’ paste on their private parts to get rid of it. But, when we examined them we found they were suffering from pelvic inflammatory disease.
