Following the stampede in Maha Kumbh, the Uttar Pradesh government is making more efforts to ensure peaceful Shahi Snan on the occasion of Basant Panchami on coming Monday.
To strengthen the security forces, the government has sent four superintendents of Police (SPs) and three additional superintendents of Police (Addl SP) level officers to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh on Friday.
The four IPS officers include Deependra Nath Chaudhary, Lakshminivas Mishra, Raj Dhari Chaurasia and Shravan Kumar Singh. Apart from this, Addl SPs Vikas Chandra Tripathi, Om Prakash Singh and Praveen Kumar Yadav have also been sent to Maha Kumbh.
Earlier, after the tragic accident in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, the government had deployed a team of five more experienced officers at Sangam Nose. These officers included one IAS and four PCS officers. These are the officers who have previously served in Prayagraj. Senior IAS officers Ashish Goyal and Bhanu Chandra Goswami, who served as divisional commissioner and district magistrate in Prayagraj during Kumbh in the year 2019, have already been deployed in Maha Kumbh. These officers will remain present in Prayagraj till February 15 and will help in improving the arrangements.
Among the officers assigned duty in Maha Kumbh on Thursday is 2016 batch IAS officer Atul Singh. He is currently posted as special secretary in the Food and Logistics Department. Apart from these, PCS officers include Joint Director in Youth Welfare Department, Ashok Kumar; Additional District Magistrate (Civil Supply) Ashutosh Kumar Dubey in Kanpur, Additional District Magistrate (Judicial) Prafull Kumar Tripathi in Hardoi and Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Pratipal Chauhan of Basti.
