In a brilliant showcase of wit, vocabulary, and mental agility, Arnav V Raju of IIT Delhi emerged victorious at the Lady Irwin College Crossword Contest, organized by Extra C with flair at the initiative of Team Eternal Phrases.
The competition, held on the college campus, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across institutions. Arnav’s solo win was a testament to his quick-thinking and exceptional crossword-solving prowess.
The second prize was bagged jointly by Sakshi and Simran of Lady Irwin College (LIC), Delhi, while Riya and Payal, also from LIC Delhi, secured the third position — marking a strong presence of the host college on the winners’ podium.
The event was graced by Prof. Rana Singh, Director Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP) as the Chief Guest, who appreciated the initiative and inspired the participants with his thoughtful address.
A special crossword workshop was conducted by the noted crossword trainer Vinayak Ekbote, who introduced participants to the nuances of clue-solving, crossword patterns, and vocabulary- building strategies. The session was highly interactive and received an overwhelming response from the student community.
The contest and workshop were skilfully executed by the vibrant all-women’s team of Unsa, Rohma, and Radhika, from Extra-C whose efforts ensured a seamless experience for all. The guiding support from the faculty members of Lady Irwin College—Sapna Kumari, Meenal Jain, and Prosenjit Roy—played a pivotal role in mentoring and motivating students throughout the event.
The entire initiative was spearheaded by Extra C along with Team Eternal Phrases, a Lady Irwin College student-led collective committed to nurturing a culture of wordplay, lateral thinking, and intellectual curiosity.
