A month after the Bhopal Municipal Corporation brought a censure motion against IAS officer posted as Additional Commissioner Nidhi Singh, the state government issued transfer orders, posting her as Joint Commissioner in Gwalior with additional charge of the Land Records and Settlement Department.
Though BMC functionaries have remained tight-lipped on the censure motion, the first against an official, sources say that the action was rooted in her public criticism of a public representative and key civic body officials.
In her new role, Singh will perform administrative duties related to land records and settlement. Though the order adheres to administrative protocols, the unceremonious shunting of the official has set tongues wagging in the state capital.
Meanwhile, Mayor Malti Rai chaired a weekly review meeting on Tuesday at the Smart City office and instructed officials to swiftly resolve citizens' complaints received through the Mayor Helpline.
Rai reviewed pending complaints, discussed them with officials, and spoke with complainants over the phone to gather feedback on how their issues were being resolved.
So far, citizens have submitted 1377 complaints in January, of which officials have resolved 716. They are currently working to address the remaining complaints. During the review, Rai emphasized, "We prioritise the prompt resolution of citizens' problems. I have instructed the relevant departments to expedite their processes."
