Guest lecture on ‘Building women's economic power for better health’

The All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhopal hosted a guest lecture on "Building Women's Economic Power for Better Health" on Friday, at Savitribai Phule Bhawan, Nursing College.

The event focused on the critical link between women's economic empowerment and improved health outcomes, highlighting how financial independence can drive personal and societal transformation.

On this occasion, Prof. Singh, underscored the importance of strengthening women's economic empowerment for a healthier society. He said, "Strengthening women's empowerment on the economic front is essential for a healthier society. Change should start from the school level to ensure better health outcomes for future generations." His remarks emphasized the need for early interventions and mindset shifts to promote long-term social progress through gender equality.

The guest lecture was delivered by Dr Dilip Singh, IES, Director, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communication, Government of India. Dr. Dilip Singh elaborated on how economic independence can positively impact women's access to healthcare, including preventive care, routine check-ups, and informed decision-making in family planning and reproductive health.

His address resonated with the audience, showcasing how empowering women financially creates ripple effects that benefit families and entire communities. To encourage participation and reflection among attendees, an extempore competition was held during the event, with prizes distributed to the winners.

The event was organized by Dr. Mamta Verma, Associate Professor & Principal I/C, Nursing College, as the Convener, with Prof. (Dr.) Amit Agrawal, Dean (Nursing and Allied Health Sciences), serving as the Organizing Chairperson, and Dr. Saikat Das, Associate Dean (Nursing and Allied Health Sciences), as the Organizing Secretary. The session saw active participation from faculty, students, and staff, contributing to a dynamic and engaging dialogue on women's empowerment and health.
