Following a surprise inspection of gas agencies in the Garhwa urban area last month, Subdivisional Officer Sanjay Kumar issued strict warnings to the operators of three agencies. The inspection uncovered initial discrepancies, leading the officer to give the agencies a week to resolve the problems.
The investigation confirmed that the three gas agencies operating in the urban area held licences for rural distribution. However, these agencies were operating as service providers within the urban area, with unauthorised gas storage facilities situated within the city boundaries.
As a result, the SDO issued notices to the operators of Aryan HP Gas Gramin Vitrak Agency, located on Kachahari Road, Bharadwaj Bharat Gas Agency Kalyanpur, and Maa Durga HP Gas Agency Obra. The notices instructed them to remove the dangerous storage facilities from the urban area within a week. Furthermore, the agencies were required to explain why their licences should not be revoked.
Despite the three-week deadline having passed, the agencies have not relocated the storage facilities. Consequently, Sanjay Kumar has issued a final ultimatum, allowing the agencies two days to comply. He stated that failure to relocate the facilities within this timeframe will result in a recommendation to revoke their licences, alongside other legal actions.
