Four girls from Parswa village in Katni district tragically drowned while bathing in the Bargi Narmada canal on Sunday morning.
The girls, identified as Siddhika (12) and Manvi (8), daughters of Manoj Lodhi, Anshika (13), daughter of Basant Patel, and Ananya (12), daughter of Ajay Patel, had gone to the canal for a bath. While bathing, Siddhika, Manvi, and Anshika were swept into deep water and began drowning. Ananya was rescued by a nearby villager who heard the commotion.
Upon receiving the alert, police and home guard teams rushed to the scene and launched a search operation. The bodies of Siddhika and Anshika were recovered, but Manvi remains missing.
Rescue teams, along with villagers, are continuing their efforts to locate her. Umariapan police station in-charge Dinesh Tiwari is leading the operation.
Manoj Lodhi, the father of Siddhika and Manvi, works as a laborer in Mumbai, while their mother was at home during the tragedy. Anshika was a Class 9 student, and Ananya studied in Class 6. The villagers and authorities are working tirelessly to find Manvi, hoping for a miracle.
