In preparation for the Founder’s Day, the Jubilee Park gate will be closed for all movement from February 21 to March 7, 2025. The decision has been taken to facilitate extensive decorations, security arrangements, and logistical preparations for the annual event that honours the legacy of Jamsetji N Tata, the visionary founder of Tata Steel and Jamshedpur.
Authorities have announced that during this period, entry to the park will be restricted to maintenance staff and authorized personnel involved in event preparations. Visitors and morning walkers are advised to use alternative locations for their daily routines.
Founder’s Day, celebrated on March 3, is one of the most significant events in Jamshedpur, attracting thousands of visitors from across the country. Jubilee Park is the focal point of these celebrations, featuring grand illuminations, floral displays, and cultural performances.
A senior official from Tata Steel UISL confirmed that the closure is essential to ensure smooth execution of the planned activities. “We are working on spectacular light displays, enhanced security measures, and improved visitor amenities. The closure is necessary to maintain safety and execute preparations efficiently.”
To manage the crowd and traffic during the celebrations, Jamshedpur Traffic Police will issue an advisory urging commuters to use alternative routes. Roads leading to Jubilee Park will have designated diversion points, and additional personnel will be deployed to ensure smooth vehicular movement.
Meanwhile, security personnel will be stationed at key entry points, and CCTV surveillance will be intensified to ensure a secure environment for visitors. Emergency response teams, including medical staff and fire safety units, will also be on standby.
Residents and regular visitors of Jubilee Park have expressed mixed reactions to the temporary closure. While morning walkers and fitness enthusiasts are slightly inconvenienced, many acknowledge the necessity of the decision for the success of Founder’s Day celebrations.
Rajesh Sharma, a local resident, remarked, “Every year, we look forward to the beautiful light decorations at Jubilee Park. The closure is a small sacrifice for an event that brings joy to so many.”
On the other hand, some have urged authorities to consider designated time slots for walkers. “We understand the need for security and preparations, but allowing restricted morning hours for regular visitors is welcomed,” suggested Anjali Verma, a local fitness enthusiast.
