At a recent meeting of DISHA, a conglomeration of ruling and opposition MPs and MLAs, the state finance minister Radha Krishna Kishore has directed DC (Deputy Commissioner) Shashi Ranjan to ensure the rehabilitation of the 10 dalit families, who are Mushars and who continue to be landless and homeless since 2022.
Kishore has further directed the DC to provide suitable land and houses for these Maha Dalits.
"I believe the administration must avoid resettling these Maha Dalits on the same plot of land at Murumatu from where they were thrown out. It will never be any happy proposition," opined Kishore.
"An eviction had happened there. Their huts were later demolished. Such incidents leave a scar,” he said.
Reminded that these Maha Dalits were given Ambedkar Awas to which Kishore said "There can't be any more fallacy than this that these evicted Dalits were given Ambedkar Awas."
"I tell you just a few of them were given sanction letter of Ambedkar Awas. Nothing more beyond this. A sanction letter to Awas is nothing if you don't get wherewithal for it. These Maha Dalits were duped then by the lower rung land revenue officials of the Anchal" reiterated Kishore.
These displaced were given 2 decimals of land free at Neori by the Palamu administration where the locals resisted their dwelling and the Mushars too were disinclined to resettle there.
Sources said following instructions of the state finance minister DC Shashi Ranjan has deputed additional collector Kundan Kumar to deal with this matter on a priority level.
On 29.8.22 ten dalit families were evicted by the Muslims from a piece of land measuring little over 4 acres bearing khata number 44, plot number 437 at village Murumatu under the Pandu police station limits.
The eviction was described then as a mutually agreed one between the Mushars and the Muslims nevertheless this episode became a national issue where the Muslims were branded as perpetrators of atrocities while the Mushars were seen as victims. Muslims of Murumatu were accused of fostering 'Land Jihad' out to occupy the agrarian economy in Pandu by the BJP then.
