Every citizen has a right to government resources: CM

Saturday, 22 February 2025 | Staff Reporter | BHOPAL

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated that just as a mother nurtures and nourishes her children with unconditional love, the joy of providing laptops to talented students in the state is indescribable. It is a lifelong memorable experience. He emphasized that just as all family members have equal rights over shared resources, every citizen, including the weakest sections of society, has a rightful claim over government resources.

Providing laptops to meritorious students will enhance their talents, strengthening the state’s bright future. Addressing a state-level event at the Academy of Administration, Dr. Yadav announced the transfer of Rs 224 crore for 89,710 meritorious students. The amount was directly credited to students' bank accounts with a single click.

Yadav urged students to use the Rs 25,000 grant exclusively for purchasing laptops and instructed them to submit their purchase receipts at their respective schools.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp and praying to Goddess Saraswati. He was welcomed with a sapling as a symbol of prosperity. During the event, Dr. Yadav interacted with students and encouraged them through his speech.

The event was attended by School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh, Sports & Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang, Bhopal In-charge and MSME Minister Chaitanya Kumar Kashyap, State Minister for Backward Classes & Minority Welfare Krishna Gaur, Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai, MLAs Rameshwar Sharma and Ravindra Yati, along with other public representatives, officials, students, and parents.

Yadav highlighted India’s ancient Gurukul system, which was free from caste and class discrimination and provided equal access to education for all. Continuing that tradition, today’s laptop distribution will help students enhance their knowledge and skills through digital learning. It will also build their confidence in innovation and progress.

He acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for empowering students through technology and credited him for making this initiative possible. Citing Israel as an example, Dr. Yadav emphasized the need to adopt modern technology to tackle challenges and secure national interests.

Yadav praised India’s democratic foundation, established through years of struggle and sacrifices by great leaders like Prithviraj Chauhan, Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, and Subhas Chandra Bose. He emphasized that being meritorious is not enough—students should also be deeply patriotic. He highlighted how Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose showcased Indian brilliance on the global stage, boosting national self-confidence.

Students must focus not only on their academic excellence but also on national challenges and responsibilities. Encouraging them to embody the virtues of hard work, discipline, and perseverance, he quoted:

"Kak Cheshta, Bako Dhyanam, Swana Nidra Tathaiva Cha,

Alpahari, Grihatyagi, Vidyarthi Panch Lakshanam"

It means that a student should have the perseverance of a crow, concentration of a heron, alertness of a dog, eat light, and be detached from comforts to attain success.

He encouraged students to follow PM Modi’s example and dedicate their time wisely for personal, societal, and national progress.

Yadav interacted with several high-achieving students, including Geeta Lodhi from Narsinghpur, Prashant Rajput from Bhopal, Sneha Tyagi from Morena, Jayant Yadav from Rajgarh, Monika Sahu from Damoh, Eliha Naaz from Seoni, Jyoti Prajapati from Rajgarh, and Pushpendra Rajput from Bhopal. The students also had a group photo session with the CM.
