In a crucial move to ensure the integrity and security of election processes, District Election Officer Ananya Mittal conducted a comprehensive quarterly inspection of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Warehouse located at Kitadih. The visit was aimed at reviewing security measures and assessing the overall maintenance of the facility, which plays a pivotal role in the upcoming electoral process.
The inspection covered critical aspects related to the law and order situation of the warehouse, ensuring that all security protocols were being strictly followed. Mittal scrutinized the security arrangements in place, including the deployment of security personnel, surveillance systems, and access control mechanisms to prevent unauthorized entry.
During the inspection, the District Election Officer thoroughly examined the storage conditions of the EVMs and VVPAT (Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail) machines. He verified the functionality of installed CCTV cameras and other security equipment to ensure round-the-clock monitoring. Special emphasis was given to checking the maintenance of the machines to avoid any technical glitches during elections.
Mittal directed the staff of the Election Office to submit a comprehensive report detailing the condition of technical equipment and any necessary repairs or replacements required. The report is to be forwarded to the Cabinet Election Department in Ranchi, Jharkhand, for further action and approval. He emphasized the importance of timely maintenance and strict adherence to protocols to uphold the credibility of the electoral process.
Accompanying the inspection team was Deputy Election Officer Priyanka Singh, who provided insights into the operational status of the warehouse and ongoing security measures. Representatives of various political parties were also present during the inspection, ensuring transparency and adherence to election commission guidelines.
To further enhance security, Mittal instructed officials to conduct routine inspections at regular intervals and directed the immediate resolution of any discrepancies found. He reiterated that the safety and security of EVMs are paramount, as they are the backbone of a fair and transparent election system.
