The Election Commission’s (EC) CVigil app received a total of 5,920 complaints since January 7 were received through the CVigil app from across 11 districts of Delhi ahead of the Delhi assembly election, slated to be held on February 5.
In a statement by the EC, it said, “A total of 5,920 complaints were received through the CVigil app from across 11 districts of Delhi and out of these 5920 complaints, 5216 complaints were found correct and resolved by the Flying Squad Team (FST) as per ECI guidelines and remaining 696 complaints were found not true.”
“These complaints have been attended within an impressive response time of just 36.16 minutes, far surpassing the target response time of 100 minutes,” it added, stating that with a remarkable 98 per cent accuracy rate in addressing complaints, the ECI’s rapid response underscores the effectiveness of the CVigil app in maintaining a fair and transparent electoral process.
A total of 691 teams, consisting of 1338 members, were deployed across all 70 Assembly Constituencies of Delhi.
“Under the leadership of Chief Electoral Officer Delhi, all the teams achieved the satisfactory disposal of complaints. This seamless coordination with DEOs and their FST and SST (Static Surveillance Team) have played a pivotal role in ensuring a transparent and efficient election process,” it said.
Among the districts, North District recorded the highest number of complaints, with 1243 cases, followed by New Delhi District, which reported 971 complaints.
“This indicates active participation by the citizens in utilizing the CVigil app for reporting violations in real-time, further reinforcing public trust in the electoral process,” the statement said.
“The successful deployment of CVigil reflects the Election Commission’s vision to integrate technology in safeguarding the democratic process.
By empowering citizens to directly report violations, the CVigil app has become a key tool in enhancing accountability, fostering transparency, and ensuring that all stakeholders are engaged in upholding the rule of law,” it said.
As for the Delhi Legislative Elections 2025, CEO Delhi has instructed all the deployed FST and SST Teams to be more vigilant of all the probable MCC violations during the next four days including the silence period.
CVigil is a mobile application developed by the Election Commission of India, designed to enable citizens to report electoral malpractices such as bribery, illegal campaigning, and other violations in real-time.
The app captures and uploads evidence, which is then addressed promptly by election authorities, ensuring a transparent and fair election process.
