In a groundbreaking initiative to strengthen and accelerate the criminal justice system in Madhya Pradesh, Dewas district has been selected as the pilot site for a fully integrated digital platform connecting all pillars of the justice system—police, judiciary, prosecution, medical, forensic, and prison departments. The initiative, led by Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana, aims to ensure faster, more transparent, and efficient delivery of justice.
This innovative project aligns with the new criminal law, set to be implemented on July 1, 2024, which emphasizes the timely processing of cases from First Information Report (FIR) registration to judicial decisions. Under this system, key documents and information—including investigation reports, medical and forensic findings, summons, warrants, and judicial proceedings—will be exchanged digitally, reducing paperwork and streamlining the judicial process.
Dewas will become the first district in Madhya Pradesh where investigators will be equipped with tablets to facilitate digital operations. Several key features of the digital platform, such as e-summons and warrants, bail application modules, and automated workflows, are already operational in the district.
A workshop marking the launch of the initiative was held under the guidance of Justice Sanjeev S. Kalgaonkar of the Madhya Pradesh High Court (Indore Bench) and Additional Director General (ADG) of SCORB Madhya Pradesh, Chanchal Shekhar (IPS). It was attended by several dignitaries, including Principal District and Sessions Judge of Dewas, Ajay Kumar Mishra, ADG Ujjain, Umesh Joga (IPS), DIG Ujjain, Navneet Bhasin (IPS), and Dewas Collector, Rituraj Singh (IAS).
During the workshop, Dewas Superintendent of Police, Puneet Gehlod, delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the transformative nature of the project.
