Authorities in Dhanbad district have cleared a private school’s management of any wrongdoing following allegations of misconduct by the school principal toward Class 10 students. A district administration team formed to investigate the matter concluded there was no evidence to support claims of foul play. However, the controversy has prompted the school’s governing body to take proactive steps to address the situation.
The society responsible for managing the school has taken the allegations seriously and initiated its own internal investigation. To maintain transparency and prevent any influence on the ongoing probe, the principal has been temporarily relieved of all administrative duties.
The issue gained attention following the Pen Day celebration held at the school on January 9. A press release issued by Maria Kirti AC, representing the Carmel Education Council North Province Patna, clarified the management’s stance. She explained that the celebration involved Class 10 students wearing a second shirt over their uniforms, on which messages related to Pen Day were written. The students were later asked to return to their original attire as part of standard protocol.
Kirti expressed concern over misleading reports published by certain media outlets, which, she said, misrepresented facts and harmed the institution’s reputation. She reiterated that the school is committed to uncovering the truth and has already begun an internal inquiry to identify any lapses and recommend corrective measures.
“To ensure an impartial investigation, the principal has been directed to stay away from all administrative responsibilities until the inquiry concludes,” Kirti stated. She further emphasized the institution’s dedication to maintaining its core values and the well-being of the students entrusted to its care by parents. She appealed to all stakeholders for cooperation in resolving the matter.
Earlier, on January 13, three separate teams representing the District Administration, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) conducted investigations. Following discussions, an agreement was reached between the parents and the school administration, allowing students to continue their studies without further disruptions.
The school management assured that any recommendations arising from the internal investigation would be implemented promptly to preserve the institution’s integrity. The controversy underscores the importance of clear communication and swift action to address concerns in educational institutions, ensuring the welfare of students remains the top priority.
