he Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has found two former directors and two current officials of Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) guilty of giving work without tender. Regarding this, CVC sent a letter to the Ministry of Heavy Industries, after which the ministry directed the HEC management to take action as per the guidelines.
The CVC investigation revealed that Tirupati Industrial Cooperation Committee Limited was entrusted with the task of reinstatement of supply workers without tender.
Among the officials found guilty in this are former Personnel Director MK Saxena, former Director Production Dr Ranas Chakraborty, Senior DGM Kaushik Das and Senior DGM TUK Singh. Partial penalty will be imposed on TA Division Manager LS Lugun. No action will be taken against former General Managers JP Prasad, DN Chaudhary, DP Singh and former Director Finance Arundhati Panda.
HEC is currently going through a serious financial crisis. 30 months' salary of the employees is pending, due to which they are not even able to deposit the school fees of their children.
Illegal construction is going on in the HEC residential complex with the connivance of the officials of the Municipal Administration Department, while it is being claimed in the annual report of the company that not a single inch of land has been constructed illegally in the last 3 years.
Just a month earlierThe Union Industries Ministry informed the Lok Sabha that it has not prepared any plans for reviving the ailing HEC. This was in stark contrast to what Union Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy, who visited Jharkhand in January, and incumbent Ranchi MP and Union Minister for Defence, Sanjay Seth, told the workers' union leaders during a meeting.
