CM fiat to identify, give special treatment to GBS patients in State

Chief Minister Hemant Soren today reviewed the preparations being made for the prevention of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) disease infection and arrangements for the treatment of identified patients with the officials of the Health Department. Minister of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department Dr. Irfan Ansari was connected online in the meeting. In the meeting, senior officials of the Health Department apprised the CM of information related to the side effects, symptoms and prevention of GBS disease.

Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Department Ajay Kumar Singh, Director RIMS Prof. (Dr.) Raj Kumar, Campaign Director of National Health Mission Abu Imran and Deputy Commissioners and Civil Surgeons of all the districts were present through virtual medium.

In the course of review, Soren directed the officials to make special arrangements to identify patients suffering from GBS disease and to make proper treatment for them in hospitals. He directed the officials to do extensive publicity in the state to avoid GBS infection. The CM said that there is a need to make the general public aware to prevent Guillain-Barre syndrome. This disease spreads by consuming contaminated water and raw food. It should be ensured that no confusion arises among the people about this disease. This disease does not spread from one person to another like corona infection, there is no need to panic too much about this disease, spread this message among the people. Awareness is the best way to avoid this disease.

The CM directed the officials to make arrangements for the examination of the people coming to Jharkhand from those areas, states or places where more patients of Guillain-Barre syndrome disease have been found. He said that a free center for Guillain-Barre syndrome test should be set up at some place in the city.

Soren told the officials to keep a strong arrangement of beds, medicines, medical oxygen etc. in all the hospitals to deal with Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) disease. He said that if any case related to this disease is found, refer it to RIMS immediately. Keep the transport system alert to bring suspected patients to RIMS so that quality treatment can be provided to the patient on time. The Chief Minister directed the civil surgeons of all the districts to keep a close eye on the news, activities and updates related to this disease so that preparations for the threat of the disease can be made in time. Also ensure that no one faces any problem in the treatment of the disease.

During the review, RIMS Director Prof. (Dr.) Rajkumar shared detailed information about how to identify the patient of Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) disease and their proper treatment through virtual medium to the civil surgeons of all the districts, and also said that the guidelines for prevention of this disease should be made available to all the civil surgeons and the concerned soon. He said that RIMS is fully prepared for the quality treatment of this disease, if any suspicious case is found, you should immediately refer the patient to RIMS. RIMS is in high alert mode regarding JBS. The RIMS Director said that everyone in their respective areas should make the general public as aware as possible to prevent this disease.
