In a sensational broad daylight murder in Ghazipur, two youths were called from their homes and sprayed with bullets.
The incident took place near Maldahiya garden in Uchori village under Khanpur police station of the district on Friday noon. Villagers who rushed there after hearing the gunshot saw two youths lying dead in the garden.
On receiving information of the double murder, cops from Saidpur and Khanpur police stations reached the spot. Three pistol shells were recovered from the scene of crime.
The police faced difficulties in taking the bodies into custody as the families of the victims and villagers stood in front of the ambulance, demanding that the district magistrate be called to the spot. The police somehow pacified the mob.
At present, the reason for the double murder could not be ascertained.
According to reports,18-year-old Aman Chauhan, son of Jai Prakash Chauhan, and 20-year-old Anurag Singh alias Dhoni, son of Sanjay Singh, both of Chilona Kala, were in the village on Friday morning when two youths arrived on separate motorcycles and took both the youths with them. After some time, people heard the sound of several rounds of firing in Maldahiya garden and rushed to the spot.
When they reached there, they saw that the bodies of Aman and Anurag were lying in pools of blood. Both were shot in the head. The youths who brought them on their motorcycles had fled
The police were informed about the double murder and by the time the cops reached there, a huge crowd had gathered at the spot.
Tillagers said that both the youths fled from the spot on a motorcycle towards Unchhori market.
The reason for the murder is not clear at the moment.
Superintendent of Police Dr Iraj Raja said that an investigation was being made and prima facie, it appeared to be a case of enmity.
