The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will celebrate its Foundation Day on April 6 with great enthusiasm across Madhya Pradesh, BJP State President and Khajuraho MP Vishnu Dutt Sharma announced while addressing the media at the party’s state headquarters on Saturday.
Sharma said that the Foundation Day will be observed at all 65,014 booths across the state with flag hoisting and distribution of sweets. Booth- and assembly-level meetings will be organized to discuss key ideological and political topics such as the contributions of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya and Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the abrogation of Article 370, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), abolition of triple talaq, BJP’s electoral successes, and its transformative role in Indian politics. The sessions will also reflect on India’s development journey under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Recalling the party’s inception in 1980, Sharma highlighted former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's vision: “The sun will rise, the darkness will vanish, and the lotus will bloom.” He emphasized that today, the BJP is the world’s largest political organization, with governments in most Indian states as well as at the Centre.
Under PM Modi's leadership, Sharma said, significant strides have been made to uplift the poor, bringing 25 crore citizens above the poverty line and transforming their lives. He added that the BJP leadership, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and National President JP Nadda, is working relentlessly to fulfill the dreams of the party’s founding visionaries like Deendayal Upadhyaya, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Outlining the upcoming organizational activities, Sharma informed that primary membership conferences will be held at booth levels on April 6–7 and at assembly levels on April 8–9. From April 7 to 13, party leaders and elected representatives will participate in the “Gaon-Basti Chalo Abhiyan”, visiting villages and urban slums to engage with the local populace.
As part of the initiative, they will participate in cleanliness drives at temples, schools, hospitals, and streets, interact with at least 10 beneficiaries of government schemes, and inspect public facilities such as anganwadi centers, animal hospitals, health centers, and panchayat buildings. They will also take part in marches through local neighborhoods carrying BJP flags, hold evening "chaupals" (community gatherings), and meet prominent personalities from various communities. Booth-level meetings will include the honoring of senior party workers, MISA detainees, and kar sevaks.
On the eve of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, April 13, BJP workers will clean his statues and celebrate a ‘Deepotsav’ (Festival of Lights) in the evening. On April 14, tributes will be paid at Ambedkar statues, sweets will be distributed, and collective readings of the Preamble of the Constitution will be held.
Sharma added that cleanliness drives and maintenance of community facilities will be conducted at anganwadi centers and schools in Scheduled Caste localities. Between April 15 and 25, district-level seminars will be organized to highlight the BJP's efforts in honoring Dr. Ambedkar’s legacy and to expose the Congress party’s historical neglect and disrespect toward him.
