BJP state spokesperson Ajay Sah has strongly reacted to the Employee Health Insurance Scheme implemented by the Jharkhand government. He said that like every scheme, this scheme is also full of many flaws, due to which there is deep resentment among the employees of the state. Ajay Sah, raising questions on the functioning of the government, said that the old "Medical Reimbursement Scheme" was abolished even before the scheme was fully implemented, due to which the employees are left without any alternative arrangement. This shows the negligence of the government.
Sah said that to avail the benefits of this scheme, it is mandatory for the employees to get a health card, but it has been 20 days since the scheme was implemented, yet only about 2,000 employees' health cards have been made, while more than 1.6 lakh government employees in Jharkhand are still deprived of it. Despite this, the government has abolished their existing health facilities, due to which thousands of employees have to struggle for medical services. This shows the disorganized working style of the state government.
Ajay Sah also said that the hospitals listed under this scheme do not include major hospitals like Medica and Medanta, whereas people usually depend on these hospitals for the treatment of serious diseases. Ajay Sah also raised questions on the financial aspect of this scheme. He said that the Jharkhand government is taking credit for this as its achievement, but under this scheme, a premium of ₹500 is being charged from government employees, whereas in the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana this premium is borne by the government. This has put an additional financial burden on the employees. Ajay Sah expressed surprise and said that when the health cards of 99% of the employees have not been made, then on what basis did the government pay the premium of March to the insurance company? Seeking an answer from the government, he said that this entire scheme is being run only for show, while the real needs of the employees are being ignored. He demanded the Jharkhand government to immediately remove the shortcomings of this scheme and provide better health facilities to the employees.
