The AAP and BJP has intensified its poster war ahead of the upcoming Delhi assembly election with the former raising the issue of absence of Chief Minister face in the BJP and dubbing it as ‘gali galoch party’ while the latter making ‘sheeshmahal’ the centre of their social media campaign and using songs like ‘Golmal hai bhai sab golmal hai’ creatively to depict the difference between AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s lavish residence and shabby condition of the national Capital.
Vying to win the high-octane polls, both the parties are actively engaging in poster and video war with the AAP putting a poster depicting Kejriwal as their CM face and a question mark on the side of the ‘Gali Galoch Party’, signifying an absence of any leader to be projected for the post in the BJP. It was titled ‘Delhi ka CM kon?’ (Who will be the CM of Delhi?’The post garnered 23,000 views and 490 likes.
In yet another post targeting the BJP leaders by calling it ‘gali galoch party k galibaj neta’, AAP used each letter of the abbreviation of BJP to represent the candidates given tickets by the party in this election. The post carried the photo of BJP candidate for kalkaji, contesting against Chief Minister Atishi, Ramesh Bidhuri as ‘Badtameez’, BJP candidate for New Delhi, pitted against AAP chief, Parvesh Singh Verma as ‘Jhagdalu’ and BJP’s Rohini candidate Vijendra Gupta as ‘Papi’.
Countering BJP’s relentless attack on the ruling party over ‘sheeshmahal’, the party is looking to turn the table by hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official residence, terming it as ‘Raj Mahal’ and highlighting the expensive things worn by him in a series of posts.
Launching an all out attack, the party creatively used a poster with ‘Fakiri, ek bada mehnga shauk hai’ written on it and a series of post attached to it highlighting the price of the sunglasses worn by the Prime Minister and pen worth Rs 1.3 lakh used by him. In another post, the party also showed PM Modi sitting on a ‘throne’ with a price tag Rs 150 crore, aiming to highlight the theme of ‘Fakir ka Rajmahal’.
Even as the party is cornering the BJP over the issue of giving Jat community OBC reservation, the ruling party from its official handle shared a poster accusing the BJP of betraying the community for 10 years despite promising it reservation in 2015 and featuring the photo of PM Modi and Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah.
Meanwhile, the BJP has attacked the ruling party and its chief for ‘sheeshmahal’. It shared a video with visuals from ‘Kejriwal ka sheeshmahal’ displaying the luxurious residence of AAP supremo and contrasted it with visuals of different areas of dirty and dilapidated roads and areas of Delhi with ‘golmal hai bhai sab golmal hai’ playing in the background.Featuring the iconic dialogue of Deewar, the BJP shared a photo in which Kejriwal is sitting on a heap of money earned from ‘sharab ghotala’, telling a person “Mere pas sheeshmahal hai, badi gadi hai, dhan-daulat hai…tumhre pas kya hai?” (I have sheehmahal, I have a big car, I have money…what do you have?”.
In reply a person, who has been allotted a flat by the Prime Minister, said, “Mere pas Modi ji ka diya, ye apna ghar.” (I have this home that Modi ji has given me)
It also shared a video of common people not having access to cleandrinking water under the AAP ruled Delhi government and also the lack of sanitation in different slums of the national Capital. It also shared a video featuring Arvind Kejriwal claiming that clean water is coming from the taps infront of the media while normal people showing dirty people coming out of the taps.
