The Kisan Mela cum Krishi Exhibition 2025 organized at National Institute of Secondary Education (NISA), Namkum, Ranchi was inaugurated by Minister Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation, Government of Jharkhand, Shilpi Neha Tirkey on Thursday.
Due to the absence of the Chief Minister in the program, the Agriculture Minister was the chief guest of the event and she led all the inauguration programs.
On this occasion, Tirkey inaugurated the Honey Processing and Bee Product Development Center and gave the message of environmental protection by planting trees in Chandan Vatika. After this, he inaugurated the agricultural exhibition and interacted with farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs after observing various stalls. During this, he said that commercialization of agricultural products is essential, so that farmers can get more benefits. He especially described chilli cultivation as a profitable business and encouraged farmers for its commercial production.
The dignitaries present on the dais included Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives, Government of Jharkhand, Abubakar Siddiqui P and MLA of Khijri, Rajesh Kachhap. These dignitaries also addressed the farmers and highlighted the Government schemes for sustainable development of the agriculture sector.
The Minister also appreciated the work of KVK Khunti and said that she would personally visit all the KVKs and study their work in detail so that necessary improvements could be made to improve the lives of farmers. She also said that development of any sector is not possible without any technology reaching the farmers.
Presiding over the function, Director, ICAR-NISA, Dr. Abhijeet Kar addressed the farmers and highlighted the achievements of the Institute. He informed that this fair provides an important platform to farmers to provide information about advanced agricultural equipment, latest research and Government schemes. He also appealed to the farmers to register themselves in the Federation provided by the Government and avail the benefits of various Government schemes.
During the program, a progressive farmer and an agricultural entrepreneur shared their experiences, which inspired the farmers present. After this, the Agriculture Minister distributed awards to the outstanding farmers and also distributed lac toolkits.
In her address, Agriculture Minister Smt. Shilpi Neha Tirkey said, "The state government is committed to advance the agriculture sector. Such fairs are an excellent medium to connect farmers with the latest technologies and government schemes."
The program was conducted by Dr. Anjesh Kumar, who successfully organized the entire event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks presented by the convener of the fair, Dr. Jyotirmoy Ghosh.
About 1500 farmers, agricultural scientists, entrepreneurs and representatives of various organizations participated in this Kisan Mela. Many stalls related to advanced agricultural equipment, organic fertilizers, latest agricultural research and government subsidy schemes were set up in the exhibition, which provided comprehensive information to the farmers.
