After chaos, Rly authorities make smooth arrangements at Stations

Wednesday, 19 February 2025 | Divya Modi | Ranchi

After the chaos which ensued at Ranchi railway station on Sunday where five women were reported to have fainted due to suffocation, the Ranchi Railway Division has adopted some measures for management of passengers at major railway stations.

With an increase in the number of travellers at the major stations of the Ranchi Railway Division, especially at the time of the trains going to Prayagraj, only those passengers with valid tickets and whose trains have arrived at the commencing station are being allowed entry on the platform while they are also being made to stand in a queue to board a coach.

Senior officials are constantly monitoring the situation at major stations of the division while adequate number of commercial department employees and Railway Protection Force personnel has also been deployed. Railway officers and employees are also available at the stations to manage the crowd and assist the passengers.

Information regarding trains as well as guidelines is being issued to the passengers through frequent announcements at stations.

To manage the extra rush of passengers travelling in unreserved coaches, the Railway Administration is ensuring that tickets are given to passengers according to the capacity of unreserved coaches of the train.

These steps have been taken after a group of 18 women who were to travel to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh could not board the 12817 Jharkhand Swarna Jayanti Express on Sunday due to fear of suffocation.

As per reports, five women in the group fainted while the others somehow managed to separate them from the crowd and take them to a safer place. The information shared also states that ticketless passengers had occupied everything from seats to toilets and closed the gates from inside. RPF jawans too tried to enter the bogies but could not succeed.

However, some passengers did manage to board the train but their family members were left behind at the station.
