In a major crackdown on illicit liquor smuggling, the Bhopal Crime Branch seized 20 boxes of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and a Bolero vehicle, valued at approximately ?12 lakh. The operation was conducted in the TT Nagar area, following a tip-off from an informer.
Acting on intelligence, the police learned that two individuals were transporting liquor in a white Bolero near Saraswati Nagar Multi. The Crime Branch team swiftly moved in, surrounded the vehicle, and apprehended the suspects.
The accused were identified as Deepak Kuchbadia (33), a resident of Atal Ayub Nagar, Bhopal, and Chhavikant Sirode (26), from Shankar Nagar, Bhopal. During a search of the vehicle, 20 boxes of Bagpiper whisky were recovered. The duo admitted to smuggling the liquor and were arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered against both accused under Section 34(2) of the Excise Act. Further investigations revealed that the duo has a history of criminal activities, with cases registered under the NDPS Act, POCSO Act, and various sections of the IPC across multiple police stations in Bhopal.
The seized Bolero, valued at ?10 lakh, has also been confiscated as part of the operation.

The police confirmed that this action is part of a broader initiative to curb illegal liquor trade and criminal activities in the city. Authorities have warned that strict action will continue against those involved in such illicit businesses.
