The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, have launched the Sar Salamat toh Ghar Salamat campaign to enhance highway emergency response. This initiative, launched on World Head Injury Awareness Day, will train thousands of ambulance personnel and Haryana Police Patrol officers in trauma care.
As part of the program, over 50 ambulance workers received hands-on training at Amrita Hospital on March 23 under Dr. Gaurav Kakkar. The initiative aims to reduce road fatalities, nearly 50% of which can be averted with immediate medical attention. Training sessions will be held quarterly.
Ajay Tamta, Minister of State, MoRTH, emphasized the government’s commitment to halving road accident deaths. Mohammad Safi, NHAI, highlighted the need for skilled responders. Swami Vijayamritananda Puri reiterated Amrita Hospital’s dedication to trauma care. This initiative supports Indias goal of reducing road injuries by 50 per cent by 2030.
Amrita Hospital aims to expand this initiative, aligning with India's goal of reducing road fatalities by 50% by 2030 under the Stockholm Declaration.
This campaign is set to be a nationwide model for highway emergency response training.
