Revolutionising Children’s Skincare

it is important for the parents’ to find the correct skincare for their kids, writes Abhi Singhal

Children’s skincare is a growing concern in today’s  world. As children are increasingly exposed to environmental factors and social media trends, maintaining their delicate skin’s health becomes essential.

Unlike adults, children’s skin requires gentle, age-appropriate products that cater to their unique needs, promoting healthy hygiene habits from an early age. However, finding solutions that balance safety, effectiveness, and appeal can be challenging. Parents often struggle to navigate between harsh commercial products and ineffective alternatives, making it crucial to develop skincare routines tailored for children. Addressing these concerns,  brands are stepping in to make skincare safe, enjoyable, and child-friendly.

Today we talk about Y Play Z, a self-care and grooming product brand that is tailored for children. On talking to Vidya Madhavan, Founder and CEO, of Y Play Z, she told The Pioneer that the inspiration behind Y Play Z has stemmed from a glaring gap in personal hygiene awareness for kids in India. Despite the growing exposure to trends through social media, children lack access to products designed specifically for their unique needs. Many existing options are either too harsh, ineffective, or unappealing for this age group, leading to poor hygiene habits.

As a parent herself, Vidya noticed how challenging it was to find gentle, age-appropriate solutions that children could use independently and confidently. This realisation of her fueled the idea of creating a brand that not only addresses their skincare and hygiene concerns but also makes the process enjoyable.

Everyone would get the harsh thought of exposing their child’s skin to skincare at such an early age, addressing this the founder explained that the one thing everyone must understand is that children today are growing up in a digital age where exposure to skincare trends on social media is inevitable. But her brand’s goal is to help everyone do safe and responsible skincare for their little ones.

Vidya Madhavan also talked about the challenges she faced while designing products specifically for children and teenagers. On the same, she said that designing skincare products for the same presented unique challenges, particularly in balancing safety, efficacy, and appeal. Children’s skin is delicate, requiring formulations free from harsh chemicals while teenagers face hormonal changes that demand targeted solutions, collectively after which she made the products.

Also, Vidya said that through their pan-India research, Y Play Z identified key skin and body concerns among children and teenagers, such as dry skin, irritation, and the need for gentle hygiene solutions.

Some Y Play Z products that are available are all-over soothing and restorative balm (Soothe Operator) is specially formulated to alleviate dry skin conditions, a common issue across age groups. Similarly, our natural, aluminum-free deo sticks (Slide & Glide) are uniquely curated for teen skin, offering a safe and effective option for body odour management while being gentle and skin-friendly.

The founder recommends Grime Buster, a 2-in-1 Face & Body Wash with a nourishing, hydrating formula for the ones with ultra-sensitive, eczema-prone skin. With that the 2-in-1 Face & Body Lotion (Hydration Hub), enriched with Mumuru Butter, Olive Squalane, and Rice Water effectively relieves dryness and soothes sensitive skin with its anti-inflammatory properties.

In a world where children’s skincare is often overlooked, Y Play Z emerges as a brand that understands and prioritises the unique needs of young skin. With a focus on safety, efficacy, and appeal. The brand not only addresses common skincare challenges but also empowers parents to adopt safe and responsible skincare routines for their little ones.
