Quoting a Panchatantra story where thugs cheated a poor farmer by calling his goat a dog, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a scathing attack on the opposition INDIA bloc’s ‘khata-khat’ scheme in the state assembly on Thursday. Panchatantra is a collection of ancient Indian animal fables in Sanskrit.
“This alliance resorted to thuggery by making false promises and pushing a false narrative against the BJP. In the 2027 assembly election, it will not be the ‘khata-khat’ scheme but rather the end of Congress and SP,” the CM said while discussing the supplementary budget.
He urged his BJP and NDA allies to engage with the public, asking them to inquire about the unfulfilled promises.
“Where did the bond of Rs one lakh promised by the opposition alliance go? Who consumed it, and who are the individuals responsible?,” the CM asked.
In a pointed attack, CM Yogi denounced the Congress and the Samajwadi Party (SP) for their allegations that PM Modi’s third term would lead to the abrogation of the Constitution and the scrapping of reservations for SCs and OBCs.
“Who are the people who claim that the Constitution is being strangled? Prime Minister Modi has been in power for ten years—has the Constitution been changed? No! In fact, the Constitution has become stronger under his leadership,” he asserted.
The chief minister lauded PM Modi for his efforts to honour Dr BR Ambedkar, emphasising that no one has respected Baba Saheb as much as PM Modi. He highlighted PM Modi’s establishment of the Panch Teerths dedicated to Baba Saheb, including the grand memorial at his birthplace in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh; the house in England where Baba Saheb pursued higher education, now known as India House; the Delhi residence where he spent his public life; and the site in Nagpur where he received Buddhist initiation.
On caste-based political discourse in the country, Yogi reiterated that there are only four castes—farmers, women, youth, and the poor. He emphasised that uplifting these groups would eliminate discrimination across the nation. The CM said that for the first time, farmers have become a central part of the government’s agenda.
“Today, farmers are receiving the full benefit of MSP. The Soil Health Card Scheme has been introduced for the first time, and farmers are benefiting from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi without regard to caste, religion, or appearance,” he said.
Emphasising that farmers, women, youth, and the poor are the only four castes, CM Yogi stated: “Efforts have been made at the government level to uplift these groups, with significant work done in the agriculture sector.”
The chief minister highlighted that in the past seven years, there has been a 36 per cent increase in pulse production and a 127 per cent increase in oilseed production.
“We have advanced towards crop diversification. Through Agrotech, we have promoted Shri Anna alongside pulses and oilseeds. Previously, it was dismissed as a coarse grain, but now its demand has surged globally. The world is recognising the value of Shri Anna, and it is now available in every major hotel,” he said.
He stated that 2.62 crore farmers in the state are benefiting from the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, with each beneficiary receiving Rs 6,000 annually.
