Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has underscored the need to establish the Shahjahanpur Development Authority for the district’s long-term planned development.

In a key meeting with Housing department officials on Monday, the chief minister issued the necessary guidelines for this initiative.

The chief minister highlighted that Shahjahanpur has seen a significant boost in industrial growth due to various infrastructure projects in recent years, adding that this development, coupled with a rising population, necessitates the formation of the Shahjahanpur Development Authority.

He pointed out that Shahjahanpur was designated a municipal corporation during his government’s first term and with the recent preparation of the Master Plan-2031, establishing the development authority was now essential.

Chief Minister Yogi stressed that the inhabited lands in village areas should not be declared as green lands to avoid causing inconvenience to residents.

Furthermore, he noted that numerous government buildings across various districts were either unused or incomplete. He said these buildings should be identified, completed and utilised effectively.

He also emphasised the importance of expediting work under the PM Jan Vikas Programme.

On the issue of development of the hotel industry, the chief minister remarked that efforts to promote Uttar Pradesh’s tourism potential have positioned the state as a top domestic tourist destination. This surge in tourism has created significant opportunities for the hotel industry, with an increasing demand for more hotels, he added.

To support this growth, he proposed revisions to building bylaws, including the minimum land requirements and the minimum width of access roads for hotels with six to 20 rooms in residential areas. He also highlighted the need for strict standards in critical areas such as parking, security and fire safety.
