Yogi defies soaring mercury to campaign for BJP, allies

Wednesday, 24 April 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

Despite the soaring mercury, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has held over 67 rallies, roadshows and Prabuddhjan Sammelans within a span of 25 days during his campaign for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections, rallying support for candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies.

For the second phase, Yogi Adityanath covered all eight Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh, underscoring that the 80 seats of the state would form the foundation to secure over 400 seats (400 paar mein 80 hi aadhaar banega)) across the country in the Lok Sabha elections 2024. He has also campaigned in six other states, where he promoted the saffron flag.

Beginning his campaign trail with a Prabuddhjan Sammelan in Mathura, Yogi Adityanath concluded this phase with a grand roadshow in Meerut on Hanuman Jayanti. The overwhelming response evoked by Chief Minister Yogi’s rallies and roadshows has on the one hand elevated the spirit of BJP cadre and supporters, and on the other, dampened the chances of the opposition parties.

The second phase of Lok Sabha elections is set for April 26, and Yogi Adityanath kicked off his campaign on March 27 with a clear objective to secure a third term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He began with a Prabuddhjan Sammelan in Mathura on March 27. During this event, Yogi Adityanath engaged with the public on behalf of actress, MP and BJP candidate Hema Malini.

During the concluding campaign of the second phase, he canvassed for Arun Govil, the BJP candidate from Meerut and renowned for his role as Lord Ram in the Ramayana serial. On April 23, a large gathering comprising members of both majority and minority communities thronged the streets to witness Yogi Adityanath’s roadshow in support of Arun Govil.

The current MP for the Baghpat Lok Sabha seat is Satyapal Singh of the BJP. However, this time, due to the alliance, the seat has been allocated to Lok Dal. Dr Rajkumar Sangwan of the RLD is contesting from this constituency.

While Yogi Adityanath has energetically campaigned for the BJP candidates, he has also dedicated considerable effort campaigning for Rajkumar Sangwan. Adhering to the principles of coalition politics, Yogi Adityanath organised two public meetings and a ‘Vijay Sankalp’ rally to rally support for Sangwan.

Furthermore, during the Chaudhary Charan Singh Gaurav Samman Samaroh on March 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged the people of Baghpat, during his address in Meerut, to elect Rajkumar Sangwan to represent them in Parliament.

Among the eight Lok Sabha seats slated to go for polls in the second phase, the BJP has opted for fresh faces in Ghaziabad and Meerut. Currently, General (Retired) VK Singh is the MP from Ghaziabad and Rajendra Agarwal from Meerut. However, this time, the BJP has fielded MLA Atul Garg from Ghaziabad and Arun Govil from Meerut. Yogi Adityanath, in his numerous interactions with the public, has urged them to rally behind these new candidates and ensure that the lotus blooms in these constituencies as well.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is widely recognised for his transformative impact on law and order in the state, earning him the title of ‘Bulldozer Baba’. His leadership is often associated with prosperity and positive change. Across the nation, Yogi Adityanath enjoys widespread popularity and admiration.

In preparation for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Yogi Adityanath has been actively participating in rallies across various states. He has conducted rallies in Maharashtra, Jammu, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar and Chhattisgarh. Among these states, elections are scheduled for April 26 in Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh), Wardha (Maharashtra), as well as Jodhpur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, and Barmer constituencies of Rajasthan.
