In an effort to strengthen democracy, District Election Officer Ananya Mittal emphasized the importance of every voter casting their vote, urging citizens to make the short journey to their designated polling booths. "Instead of waiting for five years, take five steps to the booth," he stated during a voter awareness meeting held at the Collectorate Auditorium. The meeting included participants from various groups such as the Tata Adventure Group, JRD Tata Sports, Biker Association, Photography Association, Music Association, Yoga Association, and Young Indians.
Mittal urged all associations to actively participate in the voter awareness campaign by displaying posters, flex boards, and stickers at their premises to spread the message of voting. Notable voice artist Saurabh Chakraborty, who was present at the meeting, contributed by lending his voice to voter awareness messages, encouraging citizens to vote.
The district administration is making a concerted effort to reach voters of all age groups and classes, ensuring maximum participation in the electoral process. Mittal encouraged everyone to celebrate voting day as a festival, asking voters to bring along family members, friends, and neighbors to the booths. "Let us motivate everyone in our circles to vote and take pride in participating in this great festival of democracy," he added.
The District Election Officer also highlighted the various events planned under the voter awareness campaign, coordinated by the Sweep Cell. These include Sweep Yoga with the Yoga Association, a voter pledge at an upcoming ISL football match, voter awareness activities with the Dalma Trekking Team, and a range of cultural events such as Jam Street, Rap Battles, Band Performances, Photography Exhibitions, and Bike and Cycle Rallies.
"Just as we all work to keep our bodies healthy, we must also strive for a healthy democracy by ensuring that every eligible voter exercises their right," said Mittal. He stressed the importance of the contribution from all sections of society in increasing voter turnout, appealing for cooperation from all groups to ensure that every voter reaches the booth on election day, November 13.
