Former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha is set to start a new political innings. 86-year-old Yashwant Sinha has named his new proposed political party as Atal Vichar Manch. He is going to take a big initiative in this direction soon. Sinha, a former BJP leader, joined Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress in 2021 after leaving the party. But his activism gradually ended in TMC.
During the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP did not give Yashwant Sinha's son Jayant Sinha the ticket from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat, after which Yashwant Sinha gave his open support to Congress candidate JP Patel, although JP Patel lost the election badly to BJP candidate Manish Jaiswal.
Yashwant Sinha decided to form a new party by holding a meeting with his close leaders at Atal Bhawan in Saketpuri Colony, Hazaribagh. Once the BJP office of Hazaribagh district was operated in this building, now Yashwant Sinha's new party will be operated from this office.
Assembly elections are due in Jharkhand in November-December and Yashwant Sinha can field his party candidates on some seats. Supporters have urged Sinha himself to contest from Hazaribagh assembly seat. Yashwant Sinha has been a three-time MP from Hazaribagh Lok Sabha seat and MLA from Ranchi assembly seat in united Bihar. He has been the Finance Minister and Foreign Minister in the governments of Chandrashekhar and Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Center.
In the year 2014, the Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Yashwant Sinha's son Jayant Sinha in place of Yashwant Sinha from Hazaribagh seat. Yashwant Sinha also took an undeclared retirement from politics in 2014 after his son became an MP, but in the year 2020 he became active once again.
He visited many areas of Bihar and also formed a political party called 'Bharatiya Sab Log Party'. However, 'Bharatiya Sab Log Party' could not make an impact. After this, Sinha joined Mamata Banerjee's party Trinamool Congress in the year 2021. In the year 2022, he was made the joint presidential candidate on behalf of the opposition parties.
