In a significant observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, XITE College (Autonomous) organized an impactful session on Active Living. The event featured Jhumpa Mukherjee, a distinguished marketing professional, writer, and health educator, currently serving as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at an Ed-tech startup in Bangalore.

This initiative was a collaborative effort between XITE College and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Young Indians (Yi) Yuva Jamshedpur Chapter Yi Health Cell. The session aimed to promote healthy lifestyle choices among students, providing them with practical strategies to incorporate more physical activity into their daily routines.

Mukherjee shared valuable insights and practical tips on maintaining an active lifestyle, addressing common challenges faced by students. Key takeaways from her session included: Maintaining a 14-Hour Gap Between Dinner and Breakfast: Emphasizing the benefits of intermittent fasting for overall health. Consuming Whole Foods Over Processed Products: Advocating for a diet rich in natural, unprocessed foods.

Ensuring a 2-Hour Gap Between Screen Time and Sleep: Highlighting the importance of reducing screen exposure before bedtime for better sleep quality. Engaging in 30 Minutes of Rigorous Activity Daily: Encouraging activities such as dance, yoga, or brisk walking to maintain physical fitness. Living with Reason and Purpose: Encouraging students to find purpose and meaning in their daily activities.

The session was organized with the efforts of Ashish Singh from the Branding and Communication Department and Naval Narayan Chowdhury from the NSS Department. Their initiative was supported by the XITE Yi Yuva Executive Committee Members. Faculty members, including Prof. Amit Chaturvedi, Prof. Sushmita Chowdhury Sen, Prof. Swati Singh, and Prof. Anjali Jha, were present, along with Ankit Lodha from Yi.

The event underscored the critical role of leading a healthy lifestyle in combating drug abuse. Mukherjee's session provided the students with actionable advice to incorporate active living practices into their daily lives, fostering a culture of health and well-being.

This initiative aligns with the broader objectives of the International Day Against Drug Abuse, highlighting the importance of preventive measures and healthy living to deter substance abuse. Through such efforts, XITE College continues to promote the overall well-being of its students, encouraging them to lead active and purposeful lives.
