SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2023 with a series of events at the Shilpa Konark premises. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In-charge (RSP), led the celebrations by hoisting the Environment Flag. Key figures such as Alok Verma, ED (Mines), A K Behuria, ED (F&A), and B Palai, CGM (Iron), were also present.
A K Behuria, Alok Verma, and B Palai administered the Environment Pledge in Odia, Hindi, and English, respectively. Employees wore environment badges to mark the occasion.
DIC Bhowmick emphasized the importance of protecting the environment and urged everyone to contribute to making Rourkela and its surrounding areas cleaner and greener. He highlighted RSP’s environment-friendly projects like TS-1, STP, and ETP, and assured compliance with environmental norms.
Prizes were awarded to winners of essay and slogan competitions, and the Sintering Plant-II and Sintering Plant-III departments were recognized for their decarbonization efforts. The event began with a welcome address by P C Dash, GM In-charge (Environment Engineering), and concluded with a vote of thanks from V V R Murty, GM (EED).
