A lecture was organized on the theme of World Day of Social Justice in University Law College Vinoba Bhave University.Dr. Jaydeep Sanyal delivered the welcome speech, highlighting that February 20 is celebrated globally as the 'World Day of Social Justice.' The main objective of this day is to raise awareness against social injustice .
Rashmi Pradhan, Principal in charge presiding over the program, emphasized that achieving social justice requires the eradication of fear, exploitation, injustice, and discrimination in every segment of society. Dr. Margaret Lakda, the main guest, stressed the importance of organizing this day internationally to create awareness about social justice issues. She mentioned the unfortunate conditions affecting millions worldwide, depriving them of basic necessities like home, job, healthcare, education, and nutrition without any fault of their own.Ensuring social justice is a shared responsibility, and creating awareness among the general public is the main goal of organizing the 'World Day of Social Justice.'
Dr. Urmila Kumar expressed gratitude, stating that the Indian government is taking effective steps, in collaboration with the United Nations, to address social issues. She highlighted that the United Nations General Assembly declared February 20 as the annual World Social Justice Day in 2007, with the first observance taking place in 2009. Several students, including Mukesh, Yashwant, Aditi, Jaya, Mamta, and Ritesh, shared their thoughts during the session, with a message to unite diverse communities worldwide, eliminate mutual differences, and raise societal awareness about social justice.Dr. Lakshmi Singh and all teachers and students were present at the event.
