Woman found murdered in Ghazipur, rape suspected

In a suspected case of rape and murder, a woman was found strangled to death in Sadarpur area under Sadat police station of Ghazipur district.

She was found naked in her room on Monday morning.

On the basis of preliminary investigation, the police have detained a youth from the maternal home of the deceased and are interrogating him. The incident is said to be related to a love affair.

Reports said that Vimla Devi (40) of Sadarpur in Sadat police station area was married to Sunil Kumar. Her husband is presently working in Kurukshetra in Haryana. She lived there with her husband and children and had come to her in-laws’ house a few days ago with her young children.

On Monday morning, Vimla’s body was found naked in a room of the house. There was a mark on her neck. The in-laws suspected that the woman was raped before being murdered. They informed the police about the incident.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased’s maternal home is in village Sahedi under Nandganj police station. A person from Nandganj had come to the deceased’s house and he was seen by the villagers. The police have detained him and are interrogating him.

The police are looking at the incident as a love affair. The body has been sent for post-mortem.

In another shocking incident, two teenage girls died after being hit by a freight train in suspicious circumstances late Sunday night near the railway line in Paniara village under Sarayalkhansi police station of Mau district.

Police reached the spot after receiving information and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

The family members have filed a complaint against a youth, accusing him of murder. On the basis of the complaint, the police are investigating the matter.

According to information, Roshni (13), daughter of Shravan Kumar of Kolbaj Bahadur locality under Kotwali area of Azamgarh district, had come to her maternal uncle, Lalmani’s house in Nakhatpur village under Mardah police station of Ghazipur district last Friday.

On Sunday night, she went to attend the call of nature with her cousin, Babli. When she did not return till late night, the family members launched a search. When both were not found even after a long time, the family members informed the police about their disappearance. During the police investigation, information was received about the death of two teenagers after being hit by a train on the railway line in Paniara village. On getting the information, the family members reached the spot and identified both the bodies as of Babli and Roshni.

The family members have filed a complaint to the Sarayalkhasi police, accusing a youth of the same village of murder.

However, police station in-charge Praveen Kumar Singh said that prima facie it appeared that both the teenagers died after being hit by a train.  

The case is being investigated.
