Voter Information Slips distribution begins for 4th phase of polls

Sunday, 28 April 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, K Ravi Kumar has said that distribution of voter information slips has begun in Lohardaga, Khunti, Palamu and Singhbhum Lok Sabha constituencies for the fourth phase of elections. BLOs are doing this work by going door to door. If representatives of political parties want, they can also accompany the BLOs to see the distribution of voter slips. The Chief Electoral Officer was speaking at a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Ranchi, Dhurwa on Saturday.

He said that the voter information slip will contain the name of the voter, booth number and place, what the voter has to do and what he should not do during voting and the location of the booth along with Google Map. He informed that during distribution of voter information slips, the Election Commission will also survey how many people do not have voter ID cards.

The voter will have to carry voter ID card along with this slip for voting. In case of not having voter ID card, 12 types of identity cards approved by the Commission will have to be carried for voting. The distribution of voter information slips will also be monitored so that this facility reaches 100 per cent of the voters. For this, officers of the Chief Electoral Officer's office will also go to the respective Lok Sabha constituencies and ensure that the distribution of voter slips is done smoothly.

The Chief Electoral Officer informed that for transparent voting, a list of A.S.D. (Absent, Shift, Death) has also been prepared so that there is no possibility of bogus voting in the name of those who are absent, have gone to another place or have died. He said that BLOs will also be present at the polling booth during the voting so that the correct identification of the voter can be ensured due to being local. At the same time, people in the age group of 14 to 18 years will be kept as volunteers at all the booths. While they will guide the voters, they will also prepare them as skilled voters of the future. Such volunteers have been selected and trained.

The Chief Election Officer said that the publication and broadcast of fake news as well as its posts on social media are being constantly monitored. On receiving fake news, action will be taken against the concerned institution or person.
