Vehicle checks at inter-state and inter-district borders intensified

Friday, 18 October 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

As the Assembly Elections 2024 approach, the Jamshedpur administration has ramped up efforts to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election process. Acting on the orders of District Election Officer  Ananya Mittal, a robust security and surveillance system has been established, with inter-state and inter-district check posts now fully operational across all six assembly constituencies of the region.

In a bid to prevent unlawful activities that could influence the election outcome, the administration has set up 12 inter-state and 6 inter-district check posts. These locations are being monitored around the clock to curb the movement of illegal liquor, cash, gift items, weapons, ammunition, and anti-social elements. The vehicle checking campaign is part of a broader initiative to maintain law and order during the election period.

To control the flow of goods and people from neighboring states, check posts have been set up along the borders of West Bengal and Odisha. The main inter-state check posts include: West Bengal's Jhargram District:  Chakulia block, Shishakhun (Shantinagar) of Chakulia block, Darisol in Baharagora block, Cheingjoda in Ghatshila block. West Bengal's Purulia District: Kesharpur picket in Ghatshila block, Bara Susni in Bodam block, Patamda block cutting

Odisha's Mayurbhanj District:  Jamshola in Baharagora block, Tetuldanga in Gudabanda block , Muchrishol in Gudabanda block, Bhitaramda in Dumuria block, Tiring-Rasunchopa in Potka block

Additionally, six key inter-district check posts have been positioned at the borders adjacent to Seraikela. These include: Haata-Rajnagar in Potka block, Ranggate, Jugsalai in Jamshedpur Sadar block, Bistupur-Adityapur, Pardih, Bosenagar-Kapali Kamargoda of Azadnagar police station  and Sonari-Domuhani Bridge in Sonari police station

Within Jamshedpur city, several checkpoints have also been set up to prevent illegal activities, including: Bus stand area near Mango New Bridge in Sitaramdera, Roundabout before the railway overbridge in Burmamines  and Anna Chowk in Govindpur

These points are being monitored via webcasting at the district level, ensuring real-time oversight of all movement across these critical zones. The administration's goal is to thwart any attempts to unduly influence voters by ensuring transparency and security.

To avoid inconvenience, the general public has been advised to carry valid documents, particularly when traveling with cash, valuable items, or other goods. Vehicles will be inspected thoroughly, and any suspicious items or individuals will be subjected to further checks. The administration, under the leadership of  Ananya Mittal, is determined to maintain strict vigilance throughout the election period. The initiative aims to protect the democratic process by preventing the flow of illegal resources and by keeping anti-social elements in check. By conducting these inspections, the administration seeks to uphold law and order while ensuring that the elections are held in a peaceful and unbiased manner.
