Varun Ranjan becomes new Ranchi DC

Wednesday, 16 October 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

Following the Election COmmission of India directive Ranchi DC Manju Nath Bhajantri has been removed from the post. Varun Ranjan has been made the new DC of Ranchi. A few days ago, Manjunath Bhajantri was made the Ranchi DC after removing Rahul Sinha. But on Tuesday he too was removed and Varun Ranjan was made the Ranchi DC.

The new DC of Ranchi, Varun Ranjan, assumed charge on Tuesday. He took over from the outgoing Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri. Varun Ranjan is a 2014 batch IAS officer. Let us tell you here that Varun Ranjan was earlier the DC of Dhanbad, but he was removed for being negligent in his duty during the PM's program.

A few days after being appointed to the post of Ranchi DC, the Election Commission had raised objections to Manjunath Bhajantri being made the DC. According to the order issued by the Personnel, Manjunath Bhajantri has now been given the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer of JSLPS.

Mrityunjay Kumar Barnwal, posted as the Chief Executive Officer of JSLPS, has been appointed as the MGNREGA Commissioner.

The Jharkhand Government transferred six IAS officers on September 30. In which the DCs of four districts were also changed. Manjunath Bhajantri was given the command of Deputy Commissioner of Ranchi district. Shashi Prakash Singh was given the responsibility of Deputy Commissioner of Jamtara, Utkarsh Gupta of Latehar and Manish Kumar of Pakur.

Pawan Kumar was made the Divisional Commissioner of North Chotanagpur Division. Ranjit Kumar Lal was given the responsibility of MD of Energy Production Corporation. After which the Ranchi DC has been changed again today.
