Upset with the negligence of sanitation work, Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan issued show-cause notices to the Ward Officer, In-Charge Health Officers, and Assistant Health Officers during a review of the morning cleanliness drive on Saturday.
One Sanitary inspector was placed under suspension, while 15-day salary deductions were ordered for three Darogas (inspectors) and one Supervisor.
Narayan cracked the whip after he found sanitation arrangements unsatisfactory, with garbage and green waste being set on fire, negligence in cleanliness tasks, and instructions being ignored.
As a result, show-cause notices were issued to a ward nodal officer, two in-charge health officers, and two assistant health officers.
One sanitary inspector was suspended, and the salaries of three other sanitary inspectors and one sanitation supervisor were deducted by 15 days each.
The Commissioner instructed the immediate removal of garbage and C&D waste from roads and public places, and the repair and painting of central verges. He also ordered the immediate cleaning of grass, weeds, and garbage from grounds.A spot fine of Rs 1,000 was imposed on a person who had set fire to garbage near Kali Baadi.
The Commissioner also directed, via VC and in person, the immediate removal of garbage from areas near St Xavier's School in BHEL and the cleaning of the drain behind AIIMS.
He instructed repairs and painting of central verges and further cleaning of grass, weeds, and garbage. Narayan said that all Assistant Health Officers (AHOs) must monitor sanitation work more effectively, while warning that strict action would follow if garbage was found burning anywhere in the city.
