UP SCVT becomes ‘awarding and assessing body’

Tuesday, 09 July 2024 | PNS | Lucknow

In a significant move to enhance the quality of vocational education and training in Uttar Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) has been made an ‘awarding and assessing body’.

The SCVT has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Council for Vocational Education and Training in this regard.

The agreement recognises SCVT as a certified “awarding and assessing body”, marking a milestone in vocational education, skill development and entrepreneurship.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Kapil Dev Agarwal said, “The main objective of this agreement is to improve the quality of vocational education and training in the state. Along with this, the aim is to help provide new and high-level employment opportunities to the youth of Uttar Pradesh. Under the agreement,  SCVT will be able to provide recognised certificates to the trainees on time.”

An institution is defined as an ‘awarding body’ if it offers certification for approved qualifications to trainees and ensures high-quality training and reliable assessment.

Additionally, as an expert in the field, one can formally certify the quality of teaching providers, training centres and courses and the knowledge and skills of the learners enrolled in them.

At the time of signing of the MoU, officials of SCVT and NCVET, including M Devraj, Principal Secretary (Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship), and NCVET Chairman Atul Kumar Tiwari, were present.  Everyone welcomed this agreement, describing it as an important step for Uttar Pradesh.
