Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Bokaro Steel City

On July 7, 2024, Bokaro Steel City witnessed the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. The idols were ceremoniously brought out of the temple and placed on the chariot after a proper worship ritual. The cleaning of the chariot, known as Chera-Panhara, was conducted by Mr. Birendra Kumar Tiwari, Director-in-Charge of BSL.

 

Several dignitaries, including Chittaranjan Mohapatra, Executive Director (Projects, Additional Charge MM),  Suresh Rangani, Executive Director (Finance & Accounts), Rajan Prasad, Executive Director (HR, Additional Charge Works), P.K. Rath, Executive Director (SRU), and Anup Kumar, Executive Director (Collieries), along with members of the Bokaro Women's Committee and numerous devotees, were present for the occasion.

 

The Rath Yatra began from the Jagannath Temple in Sector-4, thanks to the combined efforts of the city's residents. Throughout the procession, the townspeople and devotees took turns pulling the chariot, thereby earning blessings. The Yatra route included stops at Bokaro General Hospital, Gandhi Chowk City Centre, Patharkatta Chowk, and Ram Mandir Chowk before concluding at Ram Mandir. Volunteers from the Women's Committee, Bokaro, along with other local organizations, distributed water and sherbet to participants along the way.
