Tribals not safe under Hemant Govt in Jharkhand: Arjun Munda

Thursday, 26 September 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Arjun Munda launched a scathing attack on the Hemant Soren-led state government during a press conference held today at Adityapur. Speaking on the occasion, Munda expressed his deep dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs in Jharkhand and highlighted the ongoing Parivartan Yatra as a medium to expose the failures of the government.

Munda criticized the ruling coalition, stating, “The people of Jharkhand feel betrayed by this government, which has left no stone unturned in cheating them. The public has now made up their mind for change.” He emphasized that the BJP's Parivartan Yatra aims to bring to light the shortcomings of the current administration and mobilize the electorate towards a new political direction.

In his address, Munda targeted the government’s handling of tribal affairs, accusing it of only paying lip service to tribalism. “The state government talks about tribal issues superficially, but the reality is that tribals are not safe in their own land,” he asserted. Munda warned that this negligence would have severe consequences for the state's future.

He also accused the state government of mismanaging funds provided by the central government, saying, “The BJP-led central government is working diligently to ensure that basic amenities reach all citizens, empowering people across the nation. However, the state government here is diverting these funds and allowing them to be looted by mafias. Public representatives of the ruling party are complicit in this corruption.”

Arjun Munda did not hold back in his criticism of the current administration’s record on corruption, citing recent raids that have unearthed large sums of illicit money. “This government has broken records in terms of looting the state. In some raids, ₹35 crore is being found, in others ₹300 crore. The public is witnessing all this and is deeply disappointed,” he said.

He further lamented the poor state of law and order in Jharkhand, accusing the administration of protecting criminals. “The law and order situation is dire, and the administration is shielding criminals, emboldening them further. The common people are suffering under this government's mismanagement,” Munda remarked.

Arjun Munda also made a strong demand to the state government regarding the Mainiyaan scheme, under which financial assistance is promised to women. He called on the Hemant Soren administration to deposit ₹60,000 in lump sum into the accounts of women beneficiaries for the last five years. “The Hemant government has failed to deliver on its promises. I demand that it immediately transfer the promised amount to my sisters under the Mainiyaan scheme,” he said.

Munda concluded his address by reinforcing the mission of the BJP’s Parivartan Yatra, which has been traveling across the state to rally support for change in the upcoming elections. He highlighted that the Yatra is crucial in informing people about the failures of the state government and rallying them toward a brighter future under BJP leadership.
