Governor Mangubhai Patel said that maximum development opportunities should be provided to the tribal community. He said that Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas is the basis of an inclusive society. Governor Patel was reviewing the schemes run by the Higher Education Department for tribal students at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday.
Governor Patel said that tribal development and welfare efforts should be implemented with a motivational approach. Being the state with the highest tribal population in the country, it is the responsibility of the state to ensure that the work of tribal development and welfare is carried out in an ideal manner. He said that the provisions of post-matric and Ph.D. scholarships need to be made as per the schemes of the Central Government.
Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar said that along with the prescribed courses in tribal areas, special emphasis should be given to the arrangement for study of tribal subjects.
In the meeting, the Chairman of the Tribal Cell Deepak Khandekar, Principal Secretary of Higher Education Anupam Rajan, Principal Secretary to the Governor Mukesh Chand Gupta, Principal Secretary of Tribal Affairs E. Ramesh Kumar, Commissioner of Higher Education Nishant Varwade, Additional Secretary to the Governor Senior Umashankar Bhargava and departmental officers were present.
