Train Managers (read guards) demonstrated to prevail upon the railway ministry not to replace their decades old Line Box with the trolley bag. 

A protest was launched by the train managers on Wednesday at the Barwadeeh railway junction under the Dhanbad division of the east central railway under the aegis of the All India Guards Council. 

The train managers are of the firm view that instead of making it an issue for replacing Line Box with the trolley bag, the railway ministry should improve the facility and quality of work hours in the brake van where there remains broken iron chair with no toilet facility and the jerks of the train rattles their bones. 

Again the train managers demand inbuilt Line Box with all essential equipment and with a common lock. 

The train managers' other contention is that they are C category railway officials and hence pulling the trolley bag hardly commensurates with the dignity of their  category. 

Line Box is transported by the points man who is category D personnel. 

On the other hand there are senior railway officials who see this stir of the train managers opposing and resisting replacement of the Line Box with the trolley bag a wasteful exercise. 

Their contention is that railways are heading towards modernization and hence every one in the railway job should give a big hand. 

The train managers contend that if the railways are seriously and sincerely towards modernization then the sufferings of the train managers in the brake van be mitigated first where drinking water is a luxury.
